George Dean’s CBR Phase (I) Big Idea/ Question and Subtopic Goals:
Can academic and/or social skills performance be improved in a child, that has Special Education needs, or learning and fine motor skills; disabilities, and has been diagnosed as having Asperger’s Autism Disorder, by implementation of the use of the I-Pad2, in his daily academic studies, and use of best practices: Social Skills audiovisual software that teaches common age appropriate, yet pragmatic social skills that are usable in many common social situations?
CONDENSED VERSION OF The Big Idea/ Question:
CAN ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SKILLS BE IMPROVED IN A HIGH FUNTIONING CHILD, WHO HAS ASPERGER’S AUTISM DISORDER, BY USING ACADEMIC AND SPEECH THERAPY SOFTWARE ON IPAD-2?
Phase 1 Goals:/Essential Q’s: goes on welcome page…
Goal#1:
Can we see there was a marked decrease in Homework compared to 5th Grade, by the end of December 2011? (Measure by use of Likert Scale Survey given to parents and former Fourth Grade Teachers?)
Goal#2:
Due to Christopher’s noted remarkable high intelligence capabilities, can we see a straight A average by the end of the school year or the end of December 2011, whichever comes first, before starting Phase Two, of the CBR Capstone Project. (Demonstrated by progress reports and report cards sent home to his parents.)
Goal#3:
Can we see an increase of good oral presentation skills, and vocabulary level, documented by school grades and testified to by video interview of language arts teacher, and other teachers whose subject matter requires these skills. Social Studies, Spanish, and Science Classes would definitely require this type oral presentation, also, at least one Oral Presentation; of a required class assignment could be recorded with Christopher, to demonstrate oral communication improvements.
Goal#4:
Can we see an increase of age related social skills, by use of any social skills role-play software that is possibly available for purchase and installation in his IPAD-2?
Progress Reports are starting to come in and Christopher has all A grades thus far.
ReplyDeleteReport Cards for the 1st 9 weeks are due to be published 9-12-2011, but due to an out of town doctor appointment, he will not get them until 9-14-2011.
